Thinking of cashing out a good chunk of my Starwood points with the current United promo.   Any thoughts on if it's worth holding on to them? I don't have any specific trips planned at the moment.

starpoints are the point valuable and flexible points out there and are hard to get. United are easy to get (due to lots of UR spend bonuses) so I wouldn't waste them on United. I doubt they will get devalued over night I'm sure they will give some notice which is when I would cash them out. Also I would send them to Alaska over United.

Value wise I am still going to come out ahead sending them to United AFAIK.  Unless my math is wrong.

AS are some of the most valuable airline miles and they're not so easy to get - they only transfer from SPG. You'll get 120k from the transfer which is still better than the regular SPG AS even with the 20k:25k bonus. It's only 12k less the the 132k UA and the AS are much more valuable for premium travel than UA IMO

A. I'm not using them for travel.
B. United currently has a bonus so it's more miles than that.

It's a pretty great deal, I would still take AS if you're using for travel and don't need a companion pass.

Im debating the same thing- to put towards United vs Alaskan vs Aeroplan. I live in Eastern Canada  so im told that Aeroplan and United would be better, specifically United since I could book any aeroplan flight for the same points but no surcharges. Anyone have experience with this?

Advice is highly apprecited.

no need to ship them to Alaska or aeroplan if you have no immediate travel plans. The only rush would be to United due to the transfer bonus
