Bloomberg is interviewing TPG about the implications this will have in terms of points. Airing shortly on radio.
How would he know? Nothing's been confirmed yet about the points programs.
How would he know?
https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/marriott-starwood-merger-top-priority-people-arne-sorenson?forceNoSplash=trueSays they won't ruin the loyalty programs
At least someone is positive about merger http://fusion.net/story/234938/marriott-starwood-points-after-merger/
Like how Smisek promised he wouldn't close the CLE hub and wouldn't devalue the programs?I don't see how SPG escapes unscathed unless they keep SPG exactly as it is and migrate Marriott points to SPG at a 2:1 ratio. And that's highly unlikely to happen.
How long do you think we have until the massacre starts?
dont see how their customers (those who dont know points & stuff) will accept such a move.. basically you are telling them you are taking away half their points.. majority dont know redemptions etc & will scream bloody murder
I was thinking that even if SPG does get devalued somewhat, it could be offset from Marriott's end. Ie- Until now Marriott points were basically worthless and a redemption value of 1 cpp was great. That may change now
Much more likely that they will bring the value down to Marriotts rather then bring Marriott up to spg.
Source?
