Marriot to buy Starwood

Marriot is buying Starwood for 12.2 billion is this good or bad? What affect will it have to existing Starwood status etc.

Nope report out says its Marriott: http://www.cnbc.com/2015/11/16/marriott-to-buy-starwood-for-122b-in-cashstock.html these mergers take time, so changes to Starwood won't happen overnight but will be interesting to see how the plan is affected a la usair/aa and continental/United when was the last big hotel merger?

 According to the WSJ: Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide said it received an unsolicited takeover approach from an investor group for $76 a share, a deal that would scuttle its planned combination with Marriott International.

someone  will have to pay huge fee - --but I  think  they  MADE THE OFFER WITH MUCH THOUGHT AND DEEP POCKETS  -- but the devil is in the details

The same guys just bought Strategic Hotels & Resorts from Blackstone

That's 18 luxury hotels. It looks like they need 'a few more' for their portfolio.

Anbang would be better if they keep Starwood independent and commit to the same SPG awards as currently in place.
