Easier said than done.
A. We simply don't have the capability to make even a tenth of things we use. In a trade war we'd be brought to our knees. Would take a decade to bring everything back and train people.
B. We'd all go broke trying to bring everything back and trying to afford our own goods.

-1. As a nation, we have the resources to be self sufficient. It'd just take an overhaul of our economic jobs market model.

And you think that a structural redesign of the labor force and equipment would be doable in less than a decade? And what do we do in that decade when we face massive tariffs on our imports and exports due to the trade war that would likely lead to a massive recession?
