Talk is cheap. Neither will happen.

Republicans actually got a repeal bill on Os desk using reconciliation. Obviously it is possible.

My problem with Kasich is he won't do anything to repeal ObamaCare or the Iran deal. Something the other R's said they would do.

Although yesterday is said some very pro-Israel things, so that's good.

Bingo.

Hillary says pro-Israel things too. As Dan said, talk is cheap.

Honestly, I don't think there would be much of a difference between Kasich and Hillary

Push come to shove, do you want Clinton or Kasich in the WH?
Kasich eliminated taxes on small businesses, drove down income brackets, etc. He's been vetted twice and won in landslides in a swing state. Maybe it takes a compassionate conservative to win the WH back?

Cruz and Trump and seriously flawed candidates. They have no electoral path to the WH even against someone as flawed as Clinton.
What about Romney and McCain? Not exactly ultra conservatives.
Cruz and Trump can also beat Hillary because they can wage a great campaign and just try to be politically correct.
The polling at this point is flawed because if Kasich is not a target.  But when moderates are attacked they hardly fight back.
The McCain and Romney campaigns were pathetic and there is no reason to believe that Kasich will be any different.
Had Romney gone after Obama like he attacked Trump he would be in the white house now.

Already stated above that small business tax was eliminated and income tax heavily reduced all while state finances have improved and unemployment has gone way down.

If you think that's what Clinton would've done as governor here then you are insane.

Or we'll see a landslide the likes of which we haven't seen in decades.
Neither Cruz or Trump can take down Clinton in OH, good luck sweeping the rest of the swing states. Extremism might work for bright red and blue states, but it doesn't win swing voters.

Then you've sentenced yourself to a generation of Ds in the WH.

Neh. I just think you are very wrong about the ability of a real conservative to win. I think that any conservative who can come with a positive message and not cower from the stupid racism accusations should win. The moderates do themselves in by trying to play on the liberals terms. If the discussion is about who can give better entitlements the liberals will win any day.

I think Cruz can (not necessarily will) but not Trump. Definitely not Kasich. Rubio may have been able to at one point until he "consultanted" himself up. Walker probably can.

I have $500 at stake in this election, taking advantage of Trump supporters' senseless optimism. Did the same last year with the Mets (before the playoffs) to take advantage of Mets fans' senseless pessimism.   ;D ;D ;D

"Compassionate conservative "...
You have really bought the media storyline (or maybe it's the anti-typical- frum- guy -pro -talk- radio bias you indicate in other posts)

Already stated above that small business tax was eliminated and income tax heavily reduced all while state finances have improved and unemployment has gone way down.

Though they may have been reduced by a large percentage, what percent were they to begin with? State taxes are a fraction of federal taxes. And OH unemployment mirrored the national numbers, so while the economy may have improved, it's not like Kasich was the main cause. see here http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2015/aug/06/john-kasich/kasich-i-took-state-ohio-8-billion-hole-2-billion-/

I think Hillary of 20 years ago might have done the same. Again, I think the country is going to hell in a handbasket rather quickly. Kasich wouldn't change much, and more or less keep it on the trajectory - perhaps delay the collapse by 10-20 years, and Hillary would more or less keep as is, or perhaps speed it up a bit. But in either case we're screwed unless we take drastic measures quickly. That's why I back Cruz. Even if he's less likely to win, he's our only shot at saving us from being Greece. Big picture, it doesn't matter that much if we turn into Greece in 10 or 30 years.

I think Kasich is a late bloomer in the race and someone who doesn't have any sizzle at all. Not disagreeing that he might be a great candidate in the right circumstances, but he is as bland and overshadowed as a cow mooing next to the train horn blasting as it approaches an inevitable collision. Getting behind him is a waste of time. Compare him to Guiliani or Bloomberg who both have a great following in NYC but that means nothing nationally.

As my great demotivator poster says, "Sometimes hanging in there just makes you look like a bigger loser".

If you think that means Hillary wins automatically, you might be right. But you might be wrong - Trump is definitely maturing as a candidate, and he probably does have some actionable ideas to back his promises. The opposition is totally blindsided and has been wasting their time making stupid anti-Trump statements, like calling him a dictator or saying he will create a war with Mexico, and generally stating disbelief that he can make good on any of his promises. They are shown to be fools when he proves that he actually has a plan (as in the wall), and suddenly they have to figure out why his idea is a bad idea instead of that he has none. If they had instead taken him seriously and actually expended some energy on criticizing and smearing his name for real things then he might have been out of the race long ago.
I'm an optimist; but only because life isn't going to give me any other good choices.

Great thing about Trump is if you don't like what he said, just wait until he's talking to another crowd.
