ANA stopover policy
« on: February 24, 2011, 07:42:59 PM »
I am trying to book a trip to Israel using miles. I have enough miles with continental; but they will only let me make one stopover. I also have enough starwood miles if I tranfered them to ANA. Does anyone know if ANA will let me make a stopover on each leg? Or is there any way to get around it on Continental? Thanks so much Dan for all your great deals and info?

ANA allows 4 stopovers (more then 24 hours).
Only one per city.
Max 2 in Europe.

Don't forget their chart is mileage based so you'll need to add the distance of all flight segments. Also, unless flying on US based carrier all flights will have an extra fuel surcharge.

Go to gcmap.com, put in the airports you're traveling too (including the return), press "map" and you'll have the total miles traveled for your trip.

Then check here for how many ANA miles are required for the award.

Also is there anyway to get around continentals policy of only one stopover on reward tickets? I wanna fly to Israel and stop in vienna both ways.

Not on the same award. Aeroplan (Air Canada) allows two stopovers. But they charge more miles for TLV award.

You can stop as many times as you want for less than 24 hours.  You can only have 1 stopover over 24 hours with CO miles.

Has to be the most direct route. Just got off the phone with a rep who sounded upset that my award worked but it was cdg-Zrh-lhr and he had to let it go

Would it be a solution to make 2 seperate reservations; one from New York to Europe, and a 2nd from Europe to Israel. Will the total in points be more than with one reservation? If so by how much?

To TLV is 115k. To Europe is 105k plus Europe-TLV is 55k.
Difference of 45k.
But you could visit a lot of cities in Europe if you did this...

TLV is 75k.
Europe is 55k plus 35k to TLV.
