is it possible to book a flight from LAX to NYC through ORD and only get on the flight in ORD (If I am in ORD already?)

no. once u skip the original leg, ur ticket becomes voided out

It could be that if you are checked in for both legs, you will be able to take the second leg, but don't try it when you can't check in for the second flight before the first flight takes off. As with anything, YMMV. I have never tried it and I don't know if it will work, but this is most likely the only way that it would.

I know a guy that pulled it off, he checked in the night before, and flew in with a different carrier to his second leg.

they didnt want t let him board, but he kept on insisting that he was on previous flight, how did he otherwise get to this airport, and that the airlines computers must be down or so, and finally they agreed;

so this guy was obviously without luggage, and again each airline is diferent, and every agent you fall on differs;

however, as you are a lady (and if you know how to talk), approach a male agent, and hope for the best;

Its a risk I wouldnt take in most cases.

i tried this on a flight bur>salt lake city>lax>jfk
they wouldnt let me take it from lax, so i didnt. there really was no one to talk to though at bur or lax. didnt try going past security at lax - how would u get past security if its automatically cancelled? (unless you do a trick)

you can have someone fly that leg for you though...
why not post "free one way lax-ord"?

I did this at yyz I was booked lga-yyz-tlv. I was living in toronto at the time and thought I would need to be in NYC before my flight to Israel, ended up not needing to go to NYC so i went to YYZ the day before I was supposed to fly LGA-YYZ and told an agent that I didn't need the leg, and he just printed me a new itin. without the LGA-YYZ. But as always YMMV. PS this was like 5 years ago.
