Sims can be cut, no need for a new sim. There are better solutions for parking numbers, and cheaper sims. A spare line isn't exactly a good use for an extra sim, it's using an extra line. There are better solutions for relatives coming to visit.
Cutting from standard to micro is easy. From micro to nano not as easy. And you need a cutter for that. When SIMs are free or 99 cents, it's cheaper and easier to buy new ones. How do you park numbers otherwise? I suppose you can port it to google voice for 20 bucks. If you just need to park it for a month, an additional T-Mobile line is 10 bucks (a month).
I guess i have a cutter (which cost me $0.99) so i can't comment on ease of cutting. I find they still have to be shaved down after cutting, but that's no big deal. You can port to and from ring.to for free, if you want to park a number.
What do you do when you need to move up in size?
Adapter. The actual sim is still there, you just need more plastic around it.
This comes with the two other sizes and a free SIM for all of $1.06 it's worth having a spare one.
The extra sizes are essentially plastic adapters. (I'm not arguing if it's worth it or not. That's up to anyone to decide for themselves. I'm just pointing out that there are other solutions.)
But this one is horrible it comes as a nano but with bad plastic adapters. BE CAREFUL when using an adapter NEVER force it and make sure to switch very slowly otherwise you will break the sim tray (and the sim).
I find that the nano sims don't really fit back into the plastic they came in after you pop them out (or cut them out), but after they're shaved down to make them usable with a nano sim tray, they fit back in. The original plastic is better than an adapter, if anything. Adapters tend to be incredibly flimsy.
Does anyone know if these t-mobile $0.99 SIM promotions are a relic of the past or if they come back from time to time? Thanks!
I buy a couple at a time on eBay for $3-$4 and hold until needed. Check expiration date on the listing.
Yup, just did that the other day. Figured I could “buy direct and save” when the 99 cent offers come around, so I’m wondering if that still comes around occasionally.
