If he works at glatt bite he should have a little saved up, if hes a lawyer he should have none, Probably Only negative numbers there at age 24.

You should have about 6 months of living expenses.

I find the best way to it is have a goal of when you want to have that amount and split it up by month (such as 163 a month will get you 10,000 in five years) then you should have a separate account for extras.
What I mean by that is if you want something (extra not something important) you wait until you have enough money in that account.
