A wealthy person once told R' Chaim that he wanted to do something for the rebbetzin's yahrtzeit, so R' Chaim told him to learn a mesechta.
Thinking R' Chaim missed the point, the guy responds "I'm a wealthy guy" to which R' Chaim says "so learn a mishna".

Hard to believe it’s been a full year without R’ Chaim.

A yungerman once came for a Bracha to purchase a house. R’ Chaim responded that he should go get a haircut. The yungerman couldn’t understand what a haircut has to do with buying a house but he went for a haircut.
During the haircut he relates this story to the barber. The barber asks “where is this apartment you’re looking to buy ?” He tells the barber the location. The barber says “whatever you do DON’T buy an apartment there. The neighbors are constantly fighting & that building is a nightmare to live in”.
