How much are brokers offering for it? Just curious, I got two and I'm not sure what to do with them yet...

you may have needed to prefill out a form or something.. they (advertised) will give you $100 profit combined for both.

That has nothing to do with not buying them.
I get it. So I assume you are selling them on eBay because you were against selling to PFS and you were against holding on... Would love to know where you sold and for how much when you do..

+1

Exhibit A The Kennedy coins from earlier this year peaked at 120+ settled at 60
Exhibit B Baseball silver coins from a couple of years ago : Peaked at 150+ , settled at close to 60

And many more similair patterns. Some continue to rise - but when you deal with modern mint "collectibles" its a different story than classic US coins. Many times the initial buying frenzy is due to flippers not actual collector demand. In this particular case, the platinum series is not poular at all and has a small collector base. A search on previous mintage will show that some years have had not that much more of a mintage. So yes 4,000 is low, but mintage is not the only factor.

I was fascinated reading through this forum...

1. Speculating on what any metal price will do over the next week, month, year, or decade isn't a great idea for ones money. You can contact a financial advisor and find many more interesting real investments to get involved in.

The dollar strength has obviously hurt all commodity prices which are priced in dollars. That trade/thesis is the consensus at this point, but is way oversubscribed in my opinion, but who knows.

2. I've been doing this for almost 10 years now. I have built great relationships with some of the largest and most reputable dealers and shopping networks around. When they look for quantity, i get involved.

This does not mean the price will automatically rise in the after market, nor does it mean that the item will even sell out! There have been tons of deals that i have been involved in where people have lost money. Many times it was me who lost, other times it was the dealers, there's no free lunch here.

The buyers that i get - at least the ones that i look to work with - are not in the business to speculate - they are looking for a guaranteed, quick, and easy return.

What I have read on this forum, is somewhat disturbing. To use somebody such a myself as a safety net to eliminate your downside, and play the upside for free, is not only unethical, but it's stealing. Those even contemplating it should be ashamed.

3. This shouldn't be looked at as an investment by buyers. The money is being floated by the credit card companies. As long as you trust me, or others doing similar things as i do, the higher you spend and "lay out", the better! All else equal, the commission should be less the more you pay because you're getting more points/miles, and have the ability to hit spending limits.

I agree -  it is unethical to commit to sell to someone, and then renege if price goes up.

If you think it will do well as an investment, then kol hakovod buy it for yourself.

But to use someone else as a safety net in case it goes down, and then keep it for yourself in case it goes up is patently unfair.

Anyway now that I read your comment, let me say this:

No one could have really used you as a safety net because you gave a 7pm deadline to confirm and 3 days to ship so they can't exactly wait and then send it you later if unsuccessful.

And what exactly do these people you are arranging the buying for looking to get these coins? Collection or resale?

Wait until the US mint sees this forum. LOL ;)
