4/1 so far, and thats probably Benjie1305.

Either way- I am not sure of the point being made. My wife and I are open about travel experiences and have done our research. I would fly QR/EY/EK everyday. The cities and airports are more modern then most in the Western Hemisphere. Could something happen? It Always can, but id say the chances are similar to the ones when commuting into the city daily.

The poll is flawed, the argument here is primarily whether Jordan is on the same level as AUH/DXB/DOH.

I have done AUH with wife and kid, it's not a given I'd do AMM or even DOH

The argument is simply would you fly through an airport, as the underlying question was will a person fly EK/EY/QR/TK. Not would you start touring.

"Jew attacked in Dubai/Abu Dhabi" is failing to bring up any results in Google.
"Jew attacked in Europe" brings up quite a lot of results in Google.

Yet, people have no issue traveling through Europe but refuse to even consider going through AUH/DXB...

What am I missing here?

Just to argue the other side... Getting in trouble in Europe versus getting in trouble in AUH/ DXB is a very different story.

The point is, that just because you or i would fly through AMN, doesn't mean that i would recommend anyone to do the same.

Most people i know would turn down a free RJ J ticket.

Yes, if you try and smuggle drugs through DOH, you may be put to death. Same holds true for SIN.

Solution: Don't smuggle drugs.

LOL, thats an argument I'd bring up often.

But the difference is that in EU you'd probably be walking around with your Kipa VS in AMM

I wore a kippah in Amman. Also, while I'm sure most Israeli tourists in Jordan don't wear a kippah, I'm sure many of them aren't fooling a lot of people about who they are.

I can remember the last terror attack in EU. I can also remember the last time Jews were attacked in... New York (TODAY).

When was the last time either of those happened in AMM?

Quote
Westerners tend to be concerned that travelling in the middle east means they will be singled out by extremist groups. People worry about being kidnapped, shot or blown up by terrorists. But Jordan is one of the safest countries in the Middle East when it comes to Western travel, terrorism and crime.

Exactly the point.

We know people flock to TLV, JFK and LHR daily and that even though things happen there relatively often. But people are so scared of the middle east when many of those places have none or at best very few reports of anything bad happening there.

We are in agreement here, and I assume Hershel is too, as he hasn't posted any evidence or reason as to how or why Jordan is particularly dangerous these days. He just said how there are people who wouldn't go to Jordan like they would go to other places
There's a big difference between AUH/DXB and Jordan.

which obviously doesn't actually tell you anything about the place, as people tell people what they think, people talk, and people believe what they hear - all without actually hearing or seeing a shred of evidence showing that the thing being talked about is true.

Benjie - how did I get dragged into this!? For the record, DW has recently said to me, "Fine, if you really want to fly one of those airlines, we can."

So from what I am reading it seems that everyone here agrees that DXB/AUH/DOH are a breeze and one would never be considered to travel via those hubs.

My experience is very limited to IST over in the middle east and in the numerous times I transitioned over there I never experienced any issue of any kind.

AMM is one that the people seem to have a slight issue with but I have yet to hear what the actual issue is.

We also confirmed that traveling to TLV is really the most dangerous of them all.
