AMM is one that the people seem to have a slight issue with but I have yet to hear what the actual issue is.

Hint: most of the population are Palestinian, with over 2/3 of them still living in refugee camps, with no rights what so ever.

"Jew attacked in Dubai/Abu Dhabi" is failing to bring up any results in Google.
"Jew attacked in Europe" brings up quite a lot of results in Google.

Yet, people have no issue traveling through Europe but refuse to even consider going through AUH/DXB...

What am I missing here?
That there are millions of Jews and hundreds of shuls in Europe and close to nil in AUH/DXB?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I thought we were not spending a vacation there but are merely traveling through those places.

Guys, first of all you're mixing up safety with Anti-Israel. Of course you can say Israel had x amount of stabbings while in Jordan there was 0. So obviously Jordan is safer than Israel  ::) Jordan has no Jews there..  This is not the discussion. It's about how safe AMM would be for a Jew and it's pretty simple ya'll.

Lets put it this way, that a Jew who looks very obviously Jewish and goes around all parts of Jordan is sick; but a person who does not look Jewish at all has 0 problem going around Jordan because he is no different than any other western tourist.

And this sums it up, most people in this thread who their wife's are afraid to go through all these airports and they themselves don't recommend it to others, they are the ones who look very Jewish, so their wife is scared no matter how much the husband will explain that he will make him self look like an Arab, VS the people here who their wife's are not afraid, those are the once who don't look that Jewish. V'dl.

Now we can close this thread. Everything else is a waste of time to discuss. If you look Jewish then don't go to Jordan or the like. The globe is big enough. Don't try to convince your wife to come along to a place she will not enjoy... Even it's a very cool DDF thing to do. It's not for YOU. If you don't then have a good time.

Traveling through Jordan is fine, though most people i know (ouside if DDF for sure) would refuse a free RJ J ticket to Israel.

Because the people you know look very Jewish.... It's simple. They are smart and right.

Not at all in my situation.  We don't look particularly Jewish but my wife is still anxious about traveling to/through those places.

Why? Bc its via AMM or is there a airline specific reason?

Oh, i know a guy here on DDF that wanted to take his wife to MLE for a Grand Slam Vacation,  his wife had no clue where MLE was, but as soon as she saw the name Muhammad (or similar) she freaked out.

So all of you convinced that you're wifes would be ok traveling Via Jordan, don't be so convinced

What does she think? Why would she be different than any other westerner?

She is obviously not convinced that she can hid that she is Jewish.

Via AMM.

Another thing, i had multiple Co worker who aren't Frum that i tried to convince them to fly EK, EY etc.... but were to scared.

I even had Co worker traveling to Milan and tried to convince him to fly EK F, and he refused because it's an arab airline. He ended up taking LH J. (He could have afforded it)

She is obviously not convinced that she can hid that she is Jewish.

Some people have general anxiety, or just associate Arab countries with danger, or some combination thereof.  It's not always logical.

Besides for the danger aspect, are we discussing reluctance to support terror-supporting states, or is that for Friday?

Exactly what happened to me. But after some convincing, my wife finally agreed to go and fly there on QR. We have a short layover anyways, but I doubt she'd be game to leave the airport if our layover was longer.

I don't disagree.  Although it's technically Arabphobia.

Totally not, most countries people are afraid to go to are because they are Muslim countries not Arab countries.

Including.....

Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Sudan, Libya, Algeria  Etc...
