Thank you, thank you.

As long as PG flies it, yes. JAL allows free stopovers (they can be as long as you'd like). So find out what the total flight distance is for those two segments and then find it's place in the award chart. They'll piece it together into one reservation over the phone. Though I wouldn't rely on your own understanding of the award chart because there are promos now, so when you call to find out availability, ask how many miles it would be pp. Just make sure you tell them to do the free stopover.

Good to know. Thanks CS91 and thanks D93 for paging CS91. And if you don't mind posting the link to the JAL Chart / promo link that would be great.

I just noticed that GA code shares with PG, I wonder if you can use GA miles for PG flights too.

Paging Benjie and CS91. You know how to reach me when you find out :)

Full Award Chart: http://www.ar.jal.com/ar/en/jalmile/use/partner_air/p_jmb/jmb_mile_ar.html

Promo Page: http://www.jal.co.jp/121campaign/pg_discount/index_en.html

Based on gcmap.com (http://www.gcmap.com/dist?P=CNX-BKK-USM), the total flying distance is 657 miles (369+288) so you'd fit into the 1-1,000 bracket, so it would be 5,000 JAL Miles pp (normally 15,000 pp) as long as you're flying before March 31, 2017 (which I think you are).

Benjie, now you got me thinking, and you can call me a Copycat . Might be worth it to fly early sun. morn too Bkk, and then to USM, so I'll have almost 2 full days in USM. And then fly back USM-BKK late Monday afternoon.

Ill most likely fly out Sat night into BKK and sleep in the airport hotel and leave on the first flight out Sun morning to USM.

I booked some offsite hotel for ~$20 with free shuttle. May be worthwhile to look into that. The "hotel" was a bit eh, but clean bed/room and a "shower".

All I need for a short over night stopover in BKK.

Quick google search shows a bunch of hotels between $14-$35. Any specific one within the airport that is good?

I'm sure they are all very similar. Main thing was the shuttle. Keep full info on the hotel with address and number for when you land.

Now I need to decide if it's worth the shlep for the 1 1/2 days in USM, or just stick to CNX, and call it a trip. As of now I'm flying out of CNX late Sunday afternoon to start the journey home. So if I decide to do USM as well, I'll have to push off my flight home to Monday night, to give me ample time in USM. So hard to decide these things.

Make sure you're looking at the right airport... Most of the low cost carriers fly to DMK, not BKK which is a half hr away.

I stayed at a hotel that's attached to DMK which was very convenient because you can walk to airport. Was a bit pricey but we booked last minute so might be much cheaper in advance.

There's a hotel attached to the airport.

I stayed at the Crystal Suites, it was a 5 minute drive from BKK, it cost me $25 and was surprisingly a decent place, especially for a 6 hour over night connection, and they provided a driver from/to the airport.

Yes and no. They just add up the total amount of the miles travelled up to a max of 7 stopover/8 segments. Problem with your lineup is that you're hitting BKK twice, and according to this article (http://travelisfree.com/2014/12/01/using-jal-miles-with-7-stopovers/), you can only stop over in a city once. Question is if they'll let you because BKK is your final destination. Either way, I would call before you transfer miles just so you're sure of the amount that you need.

To avoid this problem though, why don't you just take a direct flight from CNX-USM?

I have a very small window in USM (sadly). I want to maximize my time there and rather get there at 7am then at 2:30pm.

Got it. I would call them to find out. Worst case you'll have to spend 10k/pp total (as opposed to 30k/pp with FB). Still a good deal.

ETA: Their reps are really nice and helpful. The one I reached didn't know the answer off hand and took my number down and said she'll call me back in 2 hrs. She called me back exactly two hours later. If it was AA, I'd still be waiting.
