Seems to be what makes a huge difference. Just made up my mind that I will shoot my next trip starting later this week in RAW. Hope I don't regret all the extra work I am creating for myself

I'd recommend it. But, you're concern is well-founded. As long as TR-writing/posting/editing is now, shooting in RAW and editing probably doubles it.

We took the second loop at a bit faster pace stopping off in town to pick up some drinks. Seeing as the two cokes we’d had the previous evening had rung up at $10, which unless the coke is white, powdery and can be snorted, should never cost that much, we bought a six-pack of soda for about $5, threw it in our backpack and jumped back on our bike to head back to the hotel.

Good idea, but for the first time get an insurance policy: shoot RAW+JPEG. You'll have the best of both worlds, should you become overwhelmed.
