Sydney Trip Report.
And we are back. Due to some technical difficulties the broadcast seemed to not be able to make it through.
Landing in Sydney on Thursday morning was uneventful and then hopped in a taxi to head to the Park Hyatt Sydney. After getting to the PH I realized that taking a taxi was a mistake and I should have just taken the train to Circle Station. The train station is about a 15-minute walk to the hotel and flat and easy.
After getting to the hotel, it is only normal that my room was not ready at 9am so I headed out for a walk which lead me to the ferry. I took a random ferry and before I knew it, it was check-in time so I headed back to the hotel to check-in. Words cannot describe the hotel. The location, the room, the staff, all unbelievable and amazing. I know see why it is highly talked about and when I go back it most likely will be my place to stay.
Being tired and all, I ended up falling asleep around 5pm waking up around 10pm, which I then went outside to get some night time pictures of the Opera House and downtown.
After taking around a hundred photos I went back to my room and called it a night.
The next day, Friday I went first thing to get some food for the few days I was in Sydney and Shabbat. I went to Katzy’s and Glicks via Uber. (Thank you Uber & Messenger for the $20 credit). Shabbat food consisted of Schnitzel, Random meat pies, salads, and fish.
Katzy’s – Schnitzel – 8/10
Katzy’s – Meat Pies – 7/10, would have been better warm
Katzy’s – Fish Cocktails – 5/10
Katzy’s – Cole Slaw – 5/10
Katzy’s – Broccoli Salad – 6/10
Glick’s – Fish Patties – 7/10
Glick’s – Challah – Just challah
Glick’s – Pastries – 7/10
Overall, it was good for what I had and since I had nothing before, but it was not amazing. While at Glick’s I choose an egg breakfast as well.
Glick’s – Egg Breakfast – 6/10
After getting back to the hotel, I had the staff clear the mini-bar and put all the fridge in it along with a few drinks I bought. Soon after, I headed outside to get some day pictures of the Opera House and Downtown Sydney. I must say, with all 100% honesty, the Opera House and Downtown Sydney (at night) are very photogenic and made some of the best photographs I have taken. If you make your way to Sydney I recommend getting a high quality camera (not a point and shoot, not your phone) for the trip.
Shabbat was uneventful. The concierge knew all about Shabbat and took me to the steps when needed and helped me with anything I needed. Saturday night I headed to the bars and decided to have some fun. Because who doesn’t like to have fun and get drunk on a Saturday night.
On Sunday I checked out of the Park Hyatt and made my way to the Intercontinental Sydney. Those hotels are two different worlds, but both awesome in their own ways. After checking in to the IC, I walked around the area and eventually made my way to Bondi Pizza for some lunch/early dinner. I got the regular medium pie.
Bondi Pizza – Medium Pie – 4/10
On Monday, my last day in Sydney I headed out of the hotel quite early and made my way over to Taronga Zoo where I had the special tour at 9:45. Getting to the zoo consisted of a ferry ride and then a small lift to the top to the zoo. I met the tour group, 6 people total, and we were soon on our way.
While yes, I could have just walked around on my own, taking this tour we went behind some of the exhibits and had close ups of some of the animals. I 100% enjoyed this and in no way regret paying the extra 60 AUD for this experience. It provided some amazing photographs I would not have been able to get otherwise.
After the zoo, I made my way to Katzy’s where I had a late lunch.
Katzy’s – Hamburger – 6/10
Katzy’s – Chicken Tenders – 8/10
After Katzy’s I made my way back to the IC where I relaxed in the lobby, got my bags, and before I knew it I was being escorted to the Etihad Chauffer for my EY Apartment from SYD to AUH.
Until next time, this has been Chucksterace reporting on Sydney and all its glory.
~ Pics coming soon.
