QUESTION ABOUT U.S. MINT ORDERS
« on: March 02, 2011, 12:52:24 AM »
Hello everyone!  When the U.S. Mint ships a box of one thousand $1 coins to a customer, does the return address on the box clearly state "U.S. Mint"?  If so, I would be concerned that the box might be stolen before it ever arrives.  Thank you very much in advance.

I've received many boxes and I've never noticed any US Mint marking.
Also, I've always had to sign for the boxes that were shipped to me.

Hope that puts your mind at ease.

Definitely not. It has four initials. You'll have no clue it's from the mint besides for the weight.

If $25,000 is ok, I think you'll be right...

Very true about the weight - it's a shame you can't have it delivered straight to the bank!  :)

Strangely enough, it costs the mint a bundle in overnight shipping charges & credit card fees, and then the bank has to pay $$ to send it back to the mint!     One time when I shlepped in $4,000 in coins, the teller at Chase asked me if I had any more!   I meekly replied that I do, and then he asked me to bring in the rest of my stash ($11,000)- so they will only have to pay once for shipping - crazy!
