Amex started confiscating bonus points earned through refundable tickets

I have 2 new MR cards that I hit the spend req. before the most recent statement (both closed on 12/17). Didn't use refundable for either. For one of them I finished the spend on 12/7 and the points for that card are pending. Hit the spend req. for the other on the 13th and points aren't even pending. I even made sure to pre-pay both cards in full before statement closed because I know you need to pay for points to post. When I called, they said it takes 2 statements for the bonus points to post. Never heard or experienced that before.

ETA: They also refused to push through the pending points. Last time around, they were happy to do so.

there is, bonus posts a few days after spend, or should I say this used to post a few days after spend

I'd be shocked if they started manually reviewing each account if spend qualified for bonus. The manpower that would be required for that would be enormous.

Also I have yet to hear a report of someone getting the signup bonus points for meeting spend on or after 12/9.

So everyone else is also experiencing delay in getting MR points?
Before this month, my welcome bonus points always posted 3-4 days after spending (MR, DL and SPG) and spending points posted at statement close. This month, both didn't post on time.

Rule of thumb, if you have a question about this read the last 10 pages of this thread first. 98% of questions will suddenly be answered.

They should've killed it when they killed it earning points. I'm sure they're aware that it helps for threshold. I don't know why they keep it, but i highly doubt reading this thread or doing a couple of manual reviews will suddenly result in then changing it.

1K, But I think it would be very hard to change that spend not to count toward the signup, not as simple as flipping a switch.

For someone not doing MS, that 3k over 3 months x family members with cards can be huge.

this may have s/t to do w amex reviewing MR accts for extra points, since they accidentally added thousands to US acct holders, as reported on the blogs. an audit may have showed the refundables as well, and therefore they clawed back

If they do put an end to it, then the question is if they go back and clawback bonuses earned through serve loads.
