Getting To Israel For Free With Poor Credit?
« on: March 01, 2011, 06:57:11 PM »
Hi, Dan please answer my question:

I plan on making a trip to Israel for this summer.  First of all, I wanted to know what I can do to make my flight free/cheap with credit card miles/points (something I am not at all familiar with).  If that was not going to work and I was already going to be paying the $1200sh dollars for the flight I wanted to know what credit card I should use as far as rewards go or what I should do to get the most for my money.  The only thing is that for various reasons I have a HORRIBLE credit score and have been denied all recent applications.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks a lot!

Also if all of this is impractical-please would you just have some advice on how to make this flight cheapest?  I.E.-How to break the trip up/airlines/stopover destinations/I am very flexible of dates and times of day.  I want to go mid July to mid August.
Thanks

Where'd you get that from?  I don't have anything.  I just want to know if I can get any points or anything like that if I'm spending the money anyway or if I can use any points or miles from other ways.  (besides my question about keeping it cheap without anything else also.)

You can go to any citibank and sign up for a American Airlines checking account, and get 25,000 miles. You must keep 6k there for a few months. I think you can also pay around $25 for them to give you a AA debit card, and earn miles that way.

That's cool-I wasn't aware of awards checking accounts.  Now, with the miles thing-how does that work? Does that mean that I can fly 25,000 miles for free including a free trip to Israel?

Don't forget you will get a hefty tax bill for miles from Citi Checking.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

No. It's enough for a tree ticket in the US, and you can earn more with the debit card. It's a way for someone with poor credit to earn miles.
