Anyone ever have a pair of Bruno Magli's?

Thoughts?
Except for being expensive/overpriced.

I've have not found Bruno Magli shoes to last any longer, if as long, as my other shoes. For Shabbos, if you're willing to spend the $$, I highly recommend Allen Edmonds they're great shoes that really last. For weekday, I love Cole Haan, I'm on my 4th pair of them.... I pick them up whenever I find them on the sale rack....

+1 Cole Haans are awesome, especially the ones with Nike Air soles (they have some dress shoes with those soles as well).

I have Bruno Magli's and have had in the past.  I am pretty light on my feet in general so they last as long as any other shoe for me.  I think they are pretty comfortable but I feel that they dont hold their look for so long.  I think they look older than they are bec of wrinkles in the leather.  But that most likely comes bec the leather is so soft for comfort.

Looking for comfort they are good; looking for cheap shoe not likely the best option; looking for great long lasting looks not the best option.

Nordstrom is having their anniversary sale now so you should be able to get a pair of eccos for a decent price.

I've purchased quite a few pairs at shoes.com. The shipping is free, as well as free return shipping.
You can buy 10 pairs to see them physically and keep what you like most, or one style in different sizes to see which fits better and return the rest...
I even know someone who did this for a cc bonus threshold... (check this out: http://www.shoes.com/en-US/Product/38296-5156093/Mark+Nason/Grey/Men's+Special+Reserve.aspx )

Would you mind expounding? what happened when he returned them?

I have a general klal (disclaimer: it has some [read: very, very few] exceptions):

Only buy shoes from established shoe companies. Not designers.

Examples of established shoe companies: Johnston & Murphy, Ecco, Florsheim, Mephisto, Bruno Magli, Allen Edmonds, etc.

Examples of non-shoe companies: Kenneth Cole, Hugo Boss, Ferragamo, Banana Republic, etc.

Safek: Cole Haan, Rockport, Aldo (technically all they do is shoes but it's junk IIRC), etc.

Yes, you can get a cool looking pair of Kenneth cole shoes on sale for about $120 but if you would spend $160 on a real shoe brand what you get for the extra 33% is probably 6 more months of wear, better comfort and support, and often the shoes look better past the 1 month mark (leather doesn't peel etc.).

p.s. For me the hardest part about shoe shopping is finding the style I like (slightly european style) in a real shoe company in the U.S. for under $100-160ish. If you are picky about style it can be a challenge.

Rockport is a "shoe company" as shoe companies get.. They're footwear is super comfy, I've been wearing their products for years.  So, I generally agree with most of your statement, but some of your details are inaccurate IMHO.

+1
I've had great experience with Cole Haan, and you can sometimes get real good deals in the outlets.

Its difficult to find wider shoes that don't look like boats for under $200.  Yes, AE has a full stock, but almost no one else.  Even Ecco doesn't always, but ther shoes run wider.  I asked two stores about the demand for wides, Cole Haan and one other.  They both agreed that there was demand, but sparse availability.  Odd.

Some family members of mine make nice men's (though mainly women's) shoes.
I won't link to their website (probably a rule or something), but if anyone's interested,
google "marc joseph ny" and browse around.

I may be able to get a coupon code if anyone is interested.

Stick to shoes that are made in USA or England and you will do fine.
