Objective To examine the association between intake of total fat, specific types of fat, and cholesterol and risk of stroke in men.

Design and setting Health professional follow up study with 14 year follow up.

Participants 43 732 men aged 40-75 years who were free from cardiovascular diseases and diabetes in 1986.

Main outcome measure Relative risk of ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke according to intake of total fat, cholesterol, and specific types of fat.

Results During the 14 year follow up 725 cases of stroke occurred, including 455 ischaemic strokes, 125 haemorrhagic stokes, and 145 strokes of unknown type. After adjustment for age, smoking, and other potential confounders, no evidence was found that the amount or type of dietary fat affects the risk of developing ischaemic or haemorrhagic stroke.

Great Idea.

The reason I didn't start another round right after the first one is because I was doing a "Whole30." It's an eating program that focuses on reframing the way we think about food and the way we eat. Since it's not a weight a loss diet (though most do lose weight) weighing is not allowed.

Some good news to share- aside from losing additional weight- my blood work has improved considerably! I'm no longer in the prediabetic range!

I want to share a fabulous product!

Tolerant Food pasta is made from legumes- black beans or green/red lentils.

http://www.amazon.com/Tolerant-Organic-Green-Lentil-Penne/dp/B00W7MZNDS?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_2&smid=A1TGMITQSMFIGL

Taste approved by my lucky-gened husband who never needs to diet, and my picky-eater 1 year old daughter!

* This is the cheapest version I've found online, but I heard it's $10 for the 3pk at Sam's Club

I think everyone should do a 'Whole 30' or any version of a gut diet/cleanse. Besides for it's health benefits it totally helps to reset your palette.

What do you do on Shabbos with whole 30, you don't wash at all?

I didn't.  I've had family members who did it with washing though. That was their only 'cheat'.

Still made a difference.
And I highly recommend doing it with your spouse/ family or just a friend etc.

There's no cheating allowed on W30. If you cheat, you gotta start over.
They do say that "G-d > W30" so if you must wash, then do. But it's essential not to think to of it as "cheating." And it's not just semantics. The psychological aspect of the W30 is integral to the program.

My wife is a working mom, so if I follow the whole 30 I would need to follow someone that did it and blogged about the recipes. No time to figure out new ones.

Any recommendations on a blog?

Whole 30 is a specific program.
It's is an elimination (no grains, legumes/soy, sugars or sweeteners- natural or otherwise, additives) diet that helps you identify food intolerances that good be hindering weight-loss or just general health and well-being. It's not technically a weight-loss diet, but most people do end up losing on it. Essential to the program is eating 3 proper meals a day, following the given template.

Find all the info you need at http://whole30.com/

I'd definitely recommend checking out the book "It Starts With Food" by Dallas and Melissa Hartwigs, the creators of the W30.

There is actually an official W30 instagram account, where each week a different recipe creator shares recipes daily.

Whole 30 And Clean Gut both offer plenty of recipes in the book and plenty of things you already make are already gut diet approved or easily adjusted to be fine. The hardest part of the whole thing is preparing food and having things available IMHO. And even that gets WAY easier.
