I marked up the rules with my tax comments. Hope that's ok.

OK, I'll allow. Even though that is discriminating against those who are just a point or 2 above their recommended BMI.

Affirmative action allowed for women? A healthy BMI for females is 25 as opposed to 20 for males.

According to the CDC the sweet spot is a BMI of 18.5-24.9, so 20 seems a bit low to aim for. For a male that's 5' 10" (like myself) I'd have to weigh 140 lbs in order to have a BMI of 20.1, there's no way I'm going down to that low

Any Tim Ferriss fans?

Here's a cheat sheet for his Slow Carb Diet. I'll be sharing some other tips and excerpts from his "4 Hour Body"

Rule #1 includes starches- sugar as well veggies like sweet potatoes, yam, butternut squashes...

Rule #3 includes sodas, juices, milk, beer, other alcoholic drinks. Unsweetened teas and coffees are allowed.

some apps i've found helpful:

MyFitnessPal is a bit of a pain but i only use it to track my weight. they don't have all the exercise things i do so i can't really use it.

BMI Calculator is super helpful to see where i'm at. it's also useful because i made my Whatsapp status be my BMI to keep me accountable to all my friends. they'll ask me if they see it hasn't gone down in a while.

Boxing iTimer Lite- this helps me when i want to work out using time and not reps. like planking for 30 seconds or whatever. it's the free version but it's just as good.

obviously Tumblr for my blog :)

It's just a goal- something to aim for. Doesn't have to be accomplished in one month.

I'm absolutely not interested in going down to 140 at any point in my life, I would look famished! I have a relative that did the sleeve and went down from ~300 to ~165 and he looks quite scary.

It's Wednesday- just enough time to order Nutpods from Amazon to arrive in time for Monday.

http://www.nutpods.com/collections/dairy-free-creamers/products/french-vanilla-unsweetened-4-pack

Nutpods is the best dairy-free milk creamer alternative I've ever tasted.

Why would you want to avoid dairy during our challenge? Simple. Milk has a high insulinemic response despite have a low glycemic index.

Quote
"Despite low glycemic indexes of 15-30, all of the mik products produced high insulinemic indexes of 90-98, which were not significantly different from the insulinemic response of the reference bread [generally white bread]..."

honestly if you're not allergic, i would stay away from any fake stuff. use real sugar. use whole wheat. just use it sparingly. leave the lab-created stuff for other people.

I disagree with you.

It's not lab created. It's a mix of coconut and almond milk. There's hardly anything fake in it, with ingredients like
Quote
"Purified water, coconut cream, almonds, natural flavors. Contains less than 2% of acacia gum, sunflower lecithin, dipotassium phosphate, gellan gum, sea salt.

There are lots of reasons to avoid "the real thing".

And I consider allergies to be on a contiuum. Not merely allergic or not.

Hmm, I guess we could make it 25 for women.

People with a BMI of 21 or 22 are not winning this thing anyway, unless they're in prison in siberia.

Thinking of doing a simple low calorie diet? Might not be the smartest way to do it.

Need a consistent time of day weigh in.
Morning or night?

First thing in the morning is always best. Results get skewed once you eat.

I guess not. But there must be one on the starting day and a few over the month...

i don't advise a daily weigh-in. it can get frustrating and it's not very helpful. personally i've found a weekly weigh in on Wednesday or Thursday morning (in birthday suit) to be the best.
