Bc they can. Domestic stopped for most routes a few years ago. Some routes still require RT travel for the cheaper fares.

Try a TA (perhaps they may have a student ticket etc.), miles, or a false return to the cheapest destination you can find. (matrix is your friend )

A much simpler solution would be to just post his dates. Then the OTA people can search, the TA's can post a quote, and may the best price win.

Wow thanks everybody for all the replies. I was just looking to book a 1-way because has allot of upgrade a availability but way back has zero so would fly with mileage for the way back!
