There are often sales on Jetsetter and Travelzoo

Keep in mind that the base villas do not have heated pools

I stayed in banyan tree Macua. The experience was amazing. Beautiful place, very clean, top notch service, private pool plus hot tub. Worth every penny IMO.

People I know who have been to both like Banyan Tree better.

There's also Nizuc now - with a kosher restaurant.
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

Just checked and it looked awesome but villas were like $800 a night.  Where is the restaurant?  Is this in addition to food from Chabad?

Cool! But most rooms don't have private pools unlike Banyan.

You mentioned Kosher restaurant,  where is that? In hotel?

So basically if you want to make sure you won't bump into another jew then go there

Thanks for sharing.  That's nuts.  I've obviously seen recommended hotels but never seen a Chabad single out a hotel to tell travelers to essentially boycott it so people must have had some out of the ordinary bad experiences there...

Nizuc's reputation in my circles is very good, however I don't know if people stay there for Shabbos.

I can personally speak only about Banyan Tree, and I found them to be very accommodating of kosher.

Seems worth an email to Rabbi Druk to ask what happened there if you actually want to go there.
I can't imagine spending that kind of money for a hotel room that's not an OWB though. Especially as Mexican service is generally subpar.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Yeah but there are tons of places to stay in Mexico for WAY cheaper, even private villas with pools, he was saying that it doesn't justify that high expense.
