really depends what you plan to use for
EMT, sorry for not being clear.
Are you a doctor or med student making life and death decisions or you want to check your friends/relatives heart eat every day? World of a difference...

I have the Littman Master Cardiology. I am a physician. This is my third or fourth stethoscope in more than 20 years of practice. I had the Cardiology II for many years and thought it was great. Then someone gave me a Sprague-Rappoport 3-head Proctor-Harvey model, which had excellent acoustics but the tubing was very sensitive to interference from external touch. Also, it wore out pretty fast -- sensitive to heat and cold, I think.(a quick online just now suggests that Welch Allen now makes these and may have better tubing, more like the Littman).  I have had the Master for a few years and like it very much. I would only have a black stethoscope, as I am a traditional kind of guy.

I don't think a nurse or EMT needs to spend more than $50 or $75 on a stethoscope. I would go with the best Littman you can buy for that amount.

I hear ya doc.
Looking at these;

Or this one mentioned earlier, which is a pretty cheap Littmann and well rated.

What you think?

I don't know the ADC brand.  If reviews are positive, probably a good buy for any of them. They look in the pictures to be pretty solid. I wouldn't go with the OMRON one, because the double tubing can tend to bang into each other and cause sound interference.  You can always hold them steady but that's a hassle.

I don't have much basis for this, other than my own experience and seeing what others have and use, but if I were in the market for $50-$75 stethoscope, I would probably buy the Littman classic (yes, slightly more than $75):

I acknowledge that the "lightweight" you picked out might be just as good or better, and is cheaper, but the Classic is, well, classic, and it's what you'll see more often among others.  It was the first stethoscope I owned (some drug company--I think Lilly -- gave one to every first year medical student).

Good luck!

Didn't realize it was for an eMT either. You're not diagnosing any murmurs - you're probably just going for general rate/ rhythm and lung sounds- get the cheapest non-toy one you can find. Cardiology III will probably be way overkill.

Let us know what you end up getting!
