Bb bold 9650

i got it to work on the curve. havent tried it on my tour or on a bold. I would look on crackberry and see if there is any info there. I keep forgetting to try it out with my tour as i havent needed it yet.

I originally found this on CB but am seeing here: http://forums.crackberry.com/f35/tether-8330-sprint-free-93358/ that it may not work anymore...

As a follow up, i can confirm that this DOES indeed work with the Tour 9630. I am posting using that connection right now.
Here are the results of a speed test:

After installing it, reboot your computer. Connect your phone first via USB, then open Sprint SmartView

I spoke with Sprint, the Rep explained me that it was a add on to be able to use the phone as modem through Sprint SmartView and this add on is no more available, although those who had it till now wont loss it.

But this is only reflecting Sprint SmartView Users, therefore you might try a different program that will work.

I am not able to get my curve 8530 recognized. It says no device found. Do I have to install any other blackberry drivers or enable anything on the phone?

After installing it, reboot your computer. Connect your phone first via USB, then open Sprint SmartView...give it some time to connect...i may be pretending it works, but sometimes i hit the F5 key thinking that program will respond as other programs do and refresh it.

When I connect my BB windows doesn't recognize the device. Do I just ignore that? Or is there something else I need to load to get my BB recognized first?

What are you looking to do? Depending on what you want to do you might need to install Desktop Manager software and/or turn on Mass-Storage Mode on your BB.

I was hoping to be able to use my BB as a modem.

Sprint? As long as the computer recognizes it, you need Sprint connection manager IIRC, but I think Sprint can see you're using it as a modem this way. There might be better techniques.

Yes, Sprint.

Any suggestions?
