On the preview voting ballot I got in the mail there are 3 questions we have to vote for. 2 from state one local. Out of all things that's what they want to vote on? Who picks what to vote for?

The local question of the firetruck makes more sense.

I might be opening a can of worms here (and said can might have been opened many times in this thread, but I'm not often here), but......

Why is this the politicians' fault?

Hmmm. Before I answer the question, I have one first.

Why did you assume it's about Lakewood?

The fact that you literally wrote "Lakewood" may have been a clue

They rubber stamped any and every development plan that came in front of them. They passed a Master Plan which is horrific. And so on and so forth.

So to answer your question in a simplistic way (I don't have two hours to type ALL the backstory), the politicians currently in office have approved way more density than the township's zoning map allows for, which means that there will inevitably be traffic. Other candidates have promised to build only what the township's original Master Plan allows for (which has been designed with the road infrastructure and the traffic load in mind).

Why is this the politicians' fault?
The zoning board and planning board are the decision makers when it comes to approving new housing/buildings/etc.

The zoning board members and planning board members are appointed by our local elected officials. They are essentially puppets of the elected officials. The elected officials only appoint those who align with what they want.

Therefore, if we want change, we need to vote in politicians who will care about the residents , not about developers (who slip them money under the table to approve projects that cause severe overcrowding/traffic)

On a deeper level, our local elected officials are our representatives for anything that needs to be accomplished with the county and the state. Many roads in Lakewood need to be widened or need traffic lights, but they require county/state approval. The local politicians are not very good at representing us with petitioning the state with our needs (and that's putting it nicely).

There's a lot more to it. I'm sure others can expound, but that's the gist of it.

I'd rather the Great Illustrated Classics version.

simple, lack of action, or even promising it when running re-election campaign, I mean now is the time to promise regardless of your plan

in case you don't know,  route 9 is a state road similar to rt 59 in Monsey, and it is the main artery of Lakewood choked by 3 lakes (imagine Monsey without maple ave how would rt 59 look like)

I was in Satmar yesterday and counted close to 20 unique signs about the elections. @_@

The future of Lakewood certainly seems to be more willing to deal with issues than the Lakewood of 20 years ago.

An accused pedophile moved into the neighborhood and the residents are extremely concerned.
