And, therefore, my white belt still hangs forlornly in my closet.

BH by me it is not that bad, and the parents try to act like adults and take responsibility for parenting their children, but at the end of the day, the mad density in developments is not healthy for many reasons.

I feel bad for them, but it is of their own doing. It doesn't take much market research to know that if you want to market a device as a kosher device you should get approvals from the organizations and rabbonim involved in this. It would be somewhat like opening a restaurant in Lakewood under Triangle K.

They were aware this was going to happen. Obviously they felt that this made more sense than getting a TAG hechsher, which was both incur a licensing fee and force them to install a universal filter standard instead of letting parents, schools, or organizations customize it themselves in accordance with their own standards. There isn't a universal consensus as to which entertainment is kosher and approved of. A Rav giving a written haskama would be giving a hechsher to the singers and content producers too, many of which they'd prefer not to explicitly endorse and would instead rather allow parents and schools autonomy to filter them out. Their market research must have felt that the ban wouldn't be a sales killer for them, and it would be beneficial to cater to a larger segment of the population even at risk of losing a portion due to the ban, rather than cater to a niche group in order to get a haskama and paid hechsher.

As in any line of business, not buying insurance from certain companies puts you at higher risk of fires. Sometimes it makes more financial sense to still decline the insurance and invest in fireproofing and a sprinkler system, rather than biting the bullet and paying the premiums.

What message does it send to send to your kids if they are aware of the Kol Kore (hearing from classmates, shul, etc) and yet (perhaps for a legit and 'justified' reason) you sign them up for this app/device?

Not everyone is Meshubad to the Roshei Yeshivas of BMG and definitely not to TAG.

I'm more concerned with leaving my kids watching the alternatives. Until recently there was only non-Jewish content available (nickelodeon, PBS Kids, Sesame Street, etc.) which was fine when we were growing up, but nowadays a lot of it has woke garbage mixed in. I recently signed up for toveedo.com which is a Jewish alternative (also without any haskamos), but I'd much rather have something that isn't Lubavitch. (No, I'm not looking to have a public discussion about why I'm not thrilled with a Lubavitch option).

S/He is 6 going on 16. Eventually he is likely to find out about it. Possibly a lot sooner than you expect when s/he tells or shows a friend about it who asks a parent that answers they won't go against the roshei yeshiva and the friend reports back to your child.
