The thread went from a story about one strange individual to analyzing an absurd quote within the VF article from an unnamed source (the 1% line) then to an alleged remark by an unnamed club owner then to everyone is ok with this.
Why are we so quick to believe the worst about our brothers?
When I was about 20 I met a non Jewish guy in a Walmart parking lot in an area with no frum Jews who asked me why there were so many "of those guys with beards and those long curly hair things" (while miming long payos) in strip clubs? I was shocked! "So many" frum Jews going to such places? How could it be that so many Chassidim dress the part but act so differently?
I later realized that if this guy saw two guys (heck, even if he saw 30), they would stick out so much that their prominence would be far greater, thus appearing to attend more regularly and in greater numbers than they actually did. And they represent such a tiny, likely statistically insignificant portion of the community it is laughable. Of course, each person to be there is an entire world worthy of our care, concern, and empathy. But to paint that as a systemic or commonplace issue, which is where my mind automatically jumped to, is ridiculous.
