Why would a wider crosswalk help?

Wow, memories. Is that 2013? IIRC, Akerman was only mayor in 2013 and 2015.

So this went viral

Very much geared to a certain crowd (he's the rav in Coventry). Young families who don't have any real large expenses yet.

Preaching cost cutting really only works for those families. For larger, more mature families, increasing income is the only answer.

(I'm talking about Lakewood; I don't know the specifics of other communities.)

A family with 2 kids in Coventry spending 150k/year turns into a family with 6 kids in TR spending $500k. That type of lifestyle creep can't be outearned.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I hear that

ETA: but that doesn't take away from my point that cost cutting for larger, older families isn't typically the answer. Sure it's definitely good to do; but there's only so much you can cut

Increasing income is important but some of the spending numbers I’ve seen are eye popping.

Are $7500 monthly mortgages and $800 minivan leases really your average persons hasagos these days? That’s crazy. I make more income than the numbers he was describing as typical to above average, and pay around $300 in car payments each on two vehicles and under 3k monthly mortgage- under 1500 after the basement rental. There no way in my wildest dreams I could take on those kind of payments without going flat broke in short order….

He wrote more mature. Not every larger family is more mature.

+1

But for anyone buying a house nowadays, I don't think that monthly mortgage is going to be attainable. House prices basically doubled over the last 5 years, and anyone moving out to cheaper housing usually doesn't have a rentable apartment.
