You mean to say there are more than 2 people not happy with the status quo in Lakewood??

But yet people are wondering why HH is running...
I've been out of Lakewood for a while now. Find it comical that HH is still running for the umpteenth time.

Ah - I actually think it's only his second time IINM. Think last time was 2010ish.

I think he's going to have much more support this time around for a couple reasons.

1. Lakewood isn't a vaad town anymore. i.e. they don't have a bloc vote with current demographics.

2. His predictions 10 years ago have mostly come true.

He ran a couple of years ago, after TBL started.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

He ran at least once for state senate. Before that, he ran for committee in 2010 against Bob Singer, but dropped out to allow Issac Akerman to run (IIRC). He may have run for committee again since, I don't remember.

I voted for HH last time. This time I voted against him for 2 reasons.
1 - I don't think he will be able to change anything, and will only make a ruckus, enough to bring great shame to the Ortho community.
2 - He's said and written alot of things since the last time he ran, that showed him to be a sore loser. He's written an op-ed in a Howell non-Jewish newspaper against the Rabonim of Lakewood. I don't think he has the judgement to serve in office. If it was someone else I would vote for him.

You should vote for HH precisely because he will lose.

I'm willing to put money down that he will lose. But if he gets a substantial number of votes, it will scare the establishment. If he gets nothing, they will know that they have nothing to fear and can continue to operate with no oversight and zero transparency.

Going against the establishment in any community requires great wisdom and an advisor with "breite pleitzes". He does not seem at this point to have any of that. Anyone who writes against Rabbonim in ANY venue, let alone a non-Jewish one has lost all sense of perspective.

1 - You should vote for folks who represent your interests. Doubting what they'll be able to accomplish is a lazy reason to never vote.
2 - If you spent 30 seconds reading the article, you'll see that there's nothing offensive in there about rabonim. Just a decent argument against incumbents. You can agree or disagree with his point but there's nothing hateful in there.

I will concede it's not the proper headline. For decades, Lakewood was a shtetl controlled by a select few.

Headlines aren't always in control (no pun intended) of the author. The rest of the article isn't that bad.

To me, this is the most perplexing question I have on HH. This ad ran in the Voice during Pride month last year. I wish someone could explain to me how this reconciles with someone who wants my vote.

Isn’t that a question on the Voice?

The editors most likely weren't aware. Reminds me of some frum people shopping in Target who bought their kids matching clothing from the Pride section.
Let's not even start with the Ami debacle.

Years ago HH ran a whole series of ads poking fun at current events. At the time there was a push by Bnei yeshiva to improve tznius around yeshiva. Someone wrote a letter in to a Lakewood publication complaining that a woman near yeshiva was not dressed with enough tznius and when she bent over he was nichshol seeing exposed skin. The next week the ad from HH entitled “say it with plush” which substituted plush for various attacks on askinim poked fun at the yungerman. Something like “she bent over and I saw her PLUSH” or something like that. That did it for me.

IIRC, they ran it once and never again. I'm sure the persons dealing with the ads had no clue what it meant.
