Old Lakewood has been dead for years, and the final nail in the coffin was the BMG live music exotic dinner during the 9 days. But you may argue that it technically wasn't a concert, and that was for the elites, not plebeians, so different rules should apply.

There have been plenty of similar events in the last few years. Every other random Sunday they'll be an Uncle Moishy concert in GG/Evergreen/Judaica store, etc.

I'm not even talking about the garbage fundraiser events where Naval Birshus Hatorah goes on, like Hookah bars and worse.

This discussion is so basic and clichéd, I don't understand why people are trying to make sense out of this.

I'm not from Lakewood thankfully so I don't have an issue with the word "balabus", and I can't imagine why the Lakewood Yeshiva made that term derogatory, when the Mishna assigns that individual who twists the two together so they can't be separated the highest accolades.

On that note... The reality is that Lakewood is changing drastically, from both inside and out. If the hashkafos of the community are paramount, it's time to stop playing checkers and start playing chess. When an event like this comes up, there are ways to control the program to be in line with your hashkafos instead of banning it. The event will happen anyway. Control the battlefield, don't die on it.

The best wat to encourage a future event to review plans with the tumulters is the fear that they will ruin everything by banning.

Or... and I know this is crazy... reach out and ask them to accommodate your ideas for a kosher program. I know, they'd probably tell you to jump in the lake and yell "Yechi Hamelech!" as they hung up. Or not.

And with regards to fear of bans, I know nothing about the organizers, but if they are Lubavitchers, a small showing isn't deterring them from doing it again. I can't tell you how many "grand" menorah lightings I've been to with less than 20 people there.
