I'm assuming it was because of the Twitter account. "I was hacked" is true about the same percentage of time the Planning board actually does something for the good of the greater population.

That was my instant thought as well. They probably suspended him because they had to, but at the same time covered for him by not sharing it with the public. Typical.

I bought my house in Lakewood right before the big "Hasidic" move (May 2014), 10 year old houses in developments were about double what they cost originally. The "Hasidics" are hardly entirely at fault here. Besides for the fact, the "Hasidics" aren't buying houses in the center of Lakewood, yet prices have inflated there as well.

It all comes back to supply/demand imbalance. There are many factors that influence both. What do you think happens when nearly all new construction is sold to Chassidim?

The chassidim are taking over "old Lakewood". This has been going on since way before the chassidim took over south Lakewood.

It's a free market and everyone is welcome, the only thing that bothers me is the agents that created massive advertising campaigns outside Lakewood for a couple years, holding seminars in places like Brooklyn trying to convince people to move. I believe the Lakewood housing market was able to handle the natural organic growth, but not the influx that ensued from all the advertising.

That tactic was due to the developers of Oak and Vine being squeezed financially and they needed immediate assurances that there would be market interest in the very short term. They couldn't wait for it to grow organically over 5-10 years. This was because it was many small beans investors who were pooled together.

To a smaller extent there's still some advertising taking place outside Lakewood but the homeowner-ship has already sailed for many locals.
