what gns said is true...also many ppl in bmg eat breakfast and lunch in yeshiva saves some money...but if all those expenses are there i would say if not eating out a lot, having huge over the top Shabasim etc still shouldnt be more than ~1600. there always could be other expenses random things that come up, need some random clothes etc but in general 1600 should cover it.

Not a joke.. all toiletries/ soaps/ detergents etc. Cleaners bills. Salons. Haircuts. The new sheitel that she will probably buy. The honeymoon. All the target/ Walmart trips. The gifts during Shana rishona. The small restaurant outings. The weekly or nightly trips. Point being it’s not a cheap year even if it “shoulda or coulda” been.

I hope you realize that what you said is mostly not true, people are not spending that much a month. There are definitely those who spend on what many working families would call luxuries and get flak for it, but most are not. (I apologize if you were joking but it bothers me when kollel families are generalized this way)

For most couples there will be one of two reasons why they keep expenses low, either they are frugal or they cannot afford more. Usually a kollel couple has the second reason even if they dont have the first. There is a third category of those that do not have self restraint and have no fiscal constraints, but the OP was not asking how much does a bottemless pit eat every month.

It's worth pointing out that these same categories apply to all families, the only difference is that kollel families have largely chosen and adopted a life of fiscal constraint. It therefore seems hypocrtical when a kollel family spends on luxuries, but honestly, unless you are giving them mussar that they should live according to the mishna פת במלח תאכל, they are no different than any other 'type'.

I don't understand why rent isn't included in the discussion, that can be a major difference, although my rent was cheap when I got married it was the main expense. and regarding transportation, unless you live in the perfect location with the wife having the perfect hours at the job, it's very hard to last with one car for too long...

I was 100% serious. Which part does the average newlywed kollel couple not do. The toiletries? The cleaners? The salons? The sheitel? The gifts? What exactly are you refuting?

I was 100% serious. Which part does the average newlywed kollel couple not do. The toiletries? The cleaners? The salons? The sheitel? The gifts? What exactly are you refuting?
Toiletries. They are included, I dont consider that a major expense. Average maybe $20 a month. (If you are talking about makeup which could be more expensive, it's often bought before marriage)
Cleaners. Again part of the monthly expenses, practiaclly speaking I doubt the average couple spends more than $30 a month. (And if you are the type who wouldn't dream of wearing a suit/dress twice without cleaning or dry clean your non-iron shirts, you are not the standard.)
Salons. I'm not sure what you refer to. If you mean getting a sheitel done, again most kollel families don't do it often. Average maybe $50 a month.
Gifts. Yes there are gifts. Birthday and anniversary (considered big-ticket items) are given based on each families personal finances and aren't included in a monthly bill. They will usually be given from savings or wedding gifts. Smaller gifts will fall into whichever type they are, either frugal or not, and there is a much bigger swing in this area, even so I would put the average (over the whole year) less than $50 a month.
Sheitel. I don't know a single couple who got a new sheitel in the first 3 years of marriage (besides one who got rid of a lace top).

These total out to around $150 a month and easily fit into the average budget.

Let me repeat there are definitelty those with more money and less restraint, and you will here them talking of going to restaraunts often, buying expensive gifts and going to the bahamas every other month, but they are not the standard. People often don't brag that they don't go out to eat (although in certain circles, they do). Most kollel families, however, really cannot afford to do more without going into savings, and even if they can they won't because of self restraint.

NJ Globe released their voters guide today. They put the Shnall race as a toss-up.

See the whole piece on it on page 105-106

While some of these signatories are on the Moetzes, this is not from the Moetzes.

I believe you're the one who previously mentioned the Moetzes endorsement, do you know where I can find it?
I don't, I heard about it from someone who was there. But Rav Yitzchok Sorotzkin in the above video talks a lot about it.
