Obviously many of us might prefer the Lakewood of old with the ShopRite kosher experience being just about  the only sit down option in town. We can wax nostalgic but the fact is that things have changed. Yeshiva apartments are no longer the focal point of the population and with the new Lakewood/Jackson/Toms River etc. clientele came new establishments. That being said, celebrating a special occasion used to mean spending the equivalents of $150-$200 of todays dollars on gas, tolls, babysitting, and parking, and navigating Manhattan traffic to boot. It’s a very different experience today; far easier on the wallet and the nerves, and I’m grateful for that.

I think it always comes late in the beginning of the zman, because they have to wait to see who is still registered.
