Author Topic: Adding AA FF# to BA ticket trick (Read 15714 times)

If all you are trying to accomplish is add your AA FFN to a non AA reservation, just don't put a non AA FFN on the reservation and you should be able to add the AA FFN on AA.com

Often times you can't take the BA FF# out of the res on AA.com

Your TSA precheck # should be added to your AA profile. When flying AA on a BA ticket, you need to have the reservation associated with your AA profile in order to get precheck.

Now that I got my AA number, how can I see that I am eligible for 1 free bag due to my citicard. In fact, when do I let AA know that I am checking a bag?
Is it all done on online checkin 24 hours b4 the flight, and it will show me there that the bag is free?

I stand corrected. Not sure why you didnt say that from the get go as im sure you were just waiting for someone to answer in the manner that i did.

I guess in summary there is a way to get each item accomplished in many different manners.
Personally, i find it easiest to just add my AA FFN to the reservation via finnair (defunct) or Qatar. Doing so adds my KTN as well as my status which enables me to get free bags, better seats, standby on earlier flights etc.

ETA- when i first got GE about 5 years ago, the system was VERY picky about the names matching exactly. By linking the reservation with your AA FFN, it somehow added my full name (including middle name which was not on the original reservations) to the reservation and enabled precheck. In the 6-8 flights ive taken each month in the last 5 years, i missed precheck twice.

Why do we have to go through the whole hassle of trying to change the ffn via finnair, RJ, Qatar..., why not just call AAdvantage desk and have them swap the BA ffn for the AA one?

I got stuck with all three carriers above (something about needing birthdates) I just called and got them fixed.

I can do it via the website in less time than i can make it through the phone prompts. There is also often long hold times with AA (even for elites, although I'll admit that recently it hasnt been as bad)

I've called AA a few dozen times over the past month (unfortunately) and only once had a >5 minute hold time.

Same here. Several months ago it was pretty bad...over 60 min as a PLT. Also depends on weather around the country

Called AA. Took <5 min. Got my aa ff number and free bags showed up right away. Hold times are random. Sometimes immediate sometimes hours. Status or not. Same goes for every airline. Can't keep bagging on aa for EVERYTHING
