What do you mean; that ship had sailed? The ship isn't sailed until you get a bill in the mail. That's when you start thinking arbitration.
Oh. I didn't realize you were talking about a worst case scenario. I thought you meant not to get into a fight now...

I don't see them charging for points (but this is only an opinion), he mentioned shutting down the accounts if he determines the account holder is guilty.
Best way is downgrade only via chat & avoid American human eyes on the accounts at all costs.

Is this confirmed; that chat is exclusively Indian?
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

I agree. In a scenario where you already used the points, I think they would need a very strong case to bill you. I am not a lawyer, but an Amex rep saying "we feel u gamed our system" doesn't mean they can bill for that. They would probably need to prove a very clear violation of their terms to even start.

No. I think his point is that if you somehow end up on the phone - which btw try not to - you are not safe if an American is on the line but rather only when an Indian is.

Chat - overall - seems safer then phone.

I would think so too. You signed up for the cards and spent the money; you were entitled to do that. They decided to give you the points. (Although I can see using someone's offer being a problem, from a violation of terms perspective.)

Any Amex rep can see your MR activity the same way you and I could, your "new system" is completely unverified info.
So you're saying that this is all just a bunch of anxiety. Double dipping same product is still fine?

True story:
Years ago when Amex was matching 150k offers, I called Amex to get matched.
I had gotten like 3 different cards from Amex in the 3 months prior to the phone call.
I got a call from Amex a day later from "the rewards abuse team", basically telling me that I'm an abuser, and I will get shut down if I ever open and cancel a card again.
It was a legit call - because the guy spelled out all the abuse that took place.
I've been a regular DDFer since then, and nothing ever happened to me.

Remember this was a long time ago.

I don't wanna get an email every time someone posts, rather wanna see it when checking replies to my posts. Hope it doesn't bother anyone.

Interesting, but AFAIK there were no 150K bonuses during the matching era.

Maybe 100k, but IIRC it was 150k.

the abuse you are referring to is multiple upgrades and downgrades, as far as i understand.

on some other forum, they were discussing amex not posting points for refundables.

i feel like there is a pattern here. my theory: after accidentally awarding millions of points earlier in Dec, someone blew a whistle, and they started noticing lots of "funny" stuff during their random audits.

I think there are people who upgrade from BGR to Plat Biz to get airline fees, then downgrade back to BGR and upgrade again. While that might be unethical/abusing, it's not violating any T&C set by Amex. If they want to stop it, why don't they just set a policy of no PC in 6 months or something?
