I will also add an unoficial option. After jumping many hoops, I got an Israeli DID from Zadarma.com. It supposed to cost $2/month for the number plus usage (only outgoing or calls forwarded to another number. VOIP calls to a SIP client are free, and incoming SMS is free). That number could receive faxes. It's kind of a prepaid service, where you load $$ into the account, and they're supposed to charge, but they haven't been deducting anything monthly.

Here's another potentially free Newsletter by Fax (I can't see an online signup for it) that might actually have more useful content, so it would serve a double purpose.

Many of the providers of free incoming faxes, require receiving a weekly or monthly fax in order to keep the number.

Faxzero is excellent for outgoing faxes of up to 3 pages. For slightly longer ones use myfax.com/free

However, none of those are good for the subject of this thread which is about INCOMING fax to email.

For that, the best FREE solutions are either callcentric (free NYS phone number) or Google Voice with Simonics (small one time setup fee for Simonics).

I need to send a couple of hundred pages of medical records via fax (i know its ridiculous..). Its a one time thing so I dont mind paying a couple of bucks, but dont need a subscription...

Probably gotfreefax.com (won’t be free for that large fax, but probably your best bet).

If I were you I would break up the fax into several smaller ones.

I would probably recommend that you break it up anyhow, since it will take forever to go through... additionally if it's takes too long it will fail...
