Using Platinum for lounge in TLV?
« on: March 07, 2011, 01:59:57 PM »
Hi all,

My wife flew out of Ben-Gurion last week on Continental, and brought her Platinum card. I told her to go to the Dan lounge per this page here. http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/content/travel/airport/lounge/locations/all.aspx

They denied her access and said she needed an Israeli credit card.

Was this correct? I was kind of ticked off, since she was with my 2 little girls.
If not, any thoughts who to complain to?

AMEX Plat only gives access to AA, CO, DL, US, and AMEX branded lounges.  They are correct.

She's Amex Plat or CO plat?

No where on that page does it say anything about Amex Plat eligibility.

She's Amex Plat.
I guess I didn't realize it had to be a 'branded' lounge. Thought that any lounges that has Continental access also has Amex Plat access.

I recently flew Lufthansa (economy) from TLV to FRA and I'm a Star Alliance Gold (UA 1P/CO GE) and I used the first class check in on the lower level of the airport, and they gave me a one time pass to the Dan lounge, I saw it on the desk but she didn't offer it to me, I sort of had to ask for it.

You asked the check-in agent, or the lounge attendant

The Dan attendant usually wont let you in without a pass, even if flying business. Back in January, dealer and I got in just by showing a Y BP and our *A G cards

That should be correct.
I know with my CO PC membership card I did not need a pass either.

It will, but you might need to speak the israeli way. (first hand experience)

well officially does it get you in? because on staralliance.com under lounges, there are none in TLV.

or do you just have to sell them a boat?

When dealer and I went, we gave her our BPs and cards and that was that. No questions, no sweet talk. Straight up and simple
