Just got the AF waived quite easily...I called for my miles and more card and then figured I'd give it a try, used the same reason as above- haven't had a chance to experience the benefits yet, phone call took under 5 minutes...

Makes sense. I think the trick is calling the case managers or whatever they're called for another card then asking about the gold card. Otherwise, you hit a bureaucratic wall

You need to spend $3K to get the sign up bonus. In return you will get 53K bonus points which will amount to $1,060 in statement credits. You can also get a free $200 airline GC via statement credit. You can get free global entry ($100 benefit) via statement credit.

If I make a spend of $1060, it will automatically be "free" via statement credit. I don't have to do anything special, their computer just reads 53k as being a $1060 credit?

yes, as long as you redeem the points for statement credit it will cover it.

Yea hopefully they learn that the hard way. My guess is lots of people signed up and cancelled, so ditched the signup bonus.

I called the reg customer service number asked for a manager and got the fee waived! Convo went smooth the rep offered right away to waive the fee. I guess I'll have to find some good use of the cards benefits
