Not on the 777 according to Seatguru.
nice switcheroo, but you still got it wrong. the 777's do have lie flat as you just quoted above. you meant 767 but then you can remove the whole post since elal doesnt fly those on the ny-tlv route

From Seatguru:
772: 35 lie-flat seats with 170 degree recline
744: 49 lie-flat seats

In Biz? Nice!

I saw that I mixed up the 772 and 744 hence the edit and subsequent quote from seatguru.
And you are clearly wrong according to seatguru.  The recline on the 772 is only 170 degrees.  Personally I wouldn't consider anything short of 180 degrees to be truly lie-flat, regardless of claims to the contrary.

i see what you mean. i do think though that most others would consider that lie flat. and elal website does not make a distinction between platinum class on a 777 or 747 and i highly doubt there is one.

The old CO BF seats were also "lie-flat" 170 degree recline seats.  As long as you don't mind lying flat an an angle that is.
Since when is El Al's website a source for anything?  It was designed by a 5 year old.

Thanks all for your input, I called sales and spoke to a guy in the Tel Aviv call center, he said there is no one who can calculate, but it would be quite a bit to change the fare class and on top of that I'd have to pay 700 Matmid points. L class can possibly be upgraded at check-in, at the rate of $700 cash.

Does LY have anything like an SWU?

Lie-flat or not (I'm keeping out of your debate), 170 degrees will be much better than coach ;)

No SWU.
You can look up the fare class difference on ITA.

I'd be calculating the difference between L and one of the upgradable classes (Y, S or M) at the current price?

from what ive gathered over the years its impossible to upgrade at the airport even with points unless you are an elite matmid member, as an official policy. if you upgrade at checkin, i will eat my hat

That should give you a ballpark idea, yes.
