In Melbourne people told us that they'll ticket for even 2 kph over the limit.
It can ticket or whatever they set it for.

I've always had this theory that the cops don't ticket on the way down to Atlantic city, only on the way back (I've never seen anyone pulled over there, but on the way back - always) because if someone gets a hefty ticket on the way there, they wont be in the mood for gambling, which is bad for the AC economy.
I think there is a similar theory here, where if it's going to take 4.5+ hours to get to eilat, fewer people will actually go, so possibly the iriyah will protest (long shot, but I'm hoping)

Elal 99 shekel is great, but from Jerusalem its almost faster driving there. You have to be by the airport a hour before, travel time to airport, flight.... I prefer loading the car and driving down there, the hassle with kids at the airport, check in, security, shleping suitcases...door to door with the car is much easier
I got pulled over on the way to Eilat doing 137, as a tourist no big deal. But most Israelis dont speed now already, as the 90 is full of cops. So it will not change that much. The only problem being every fine will cost a handling fee by the rental company

I guess it depends if you travel with kids. I did it with 3 kids, I think its much easier to put them and all suitcases in the car in Jerusalem and drive straight to the hotel in Eilat.

Big difference between cops pulling people over and unforgiving cameras.
Besides with a camera ticket you don't even know you got a ticket until weeks or even months later.
And ACY is a gambling town.  If you get a $250 ticket that's $250 less gambling revenue.  Eilat is just a crappy beach town which happens to have some of the only half-decent hotels in the country.

My point was, if I can't speed and it takes me closer to 5 hours than to 3 to get there, I will be much less likely to go down. I doubt I'm the only one making that cheshbon. In which case Eilat which is THE tourist trap in Israel for Israelis, will suffer greatly

Hey, you're dealing with Elal here. As soon as they start making the cheshbon that you and everyone else is making, their prices will go up!

Yes! Even though i've flown them more than any airline, I still feel that they look to game you any way they can. They charge a fuel surcharge to the US just like the European airlines, yet the won't let family's pool their miles like BA does, nor will they allow you to extend your miles past 3 years even with activity, unlike most airlines.
