Re: The recent Gateway deal. And yes, I know it was dead by the time I saw it.

WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?
Okay, now I got that out of my system.
So, don't take offense, DDMS team. My bias against Gateway is well-known by DDF, I hope, and to be fair the post noted that they aren't known for their build quality. Okay. I also understand your fascination with the i7 sticker that comes with laptops that happened to be labeled with those stickers.
But this is an 11th gen i7, almost identical to an 11th gen i5. It is also 3 years old. Do you want to know how much progress processors have made since then? The 12th gen i3, from Q1 2022, outperforms it. (We won't talk about the 13th gen.) I elaborated on this in my thread:
https://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=132600.msg2721201#msg2721201And if you don't believe me, check out this comparison. I threw in the i3-N305 as this is supposed to go in budget laptops (like the $300 kind, before they go on sale).

It would have to be at least $200 to catch my interest... And sellers take advantage of people not knowing this stuff (even the manufacturers, AMD and Intel do). In particular, Gateway brand - since its revival by Walmart - has taken OLD processors that were high-end in their day and put them in their laptops, trying to entice people with "i7". Their first computer had a 6th gen i7 - the one from the Surface, no less - when manufacturers were selling 8th gen. And it wasn't worth it then, either.

You should all be blessed with good health!
