poor zak the baker

Not saying to go there, but if you were there...
Quote
Frieden said that all of Miami-Dade’s local Zika cases were transmitted within a 150-meter area surrounding an unidentified “workplace” likely at the center of the designated zone.

Zak is near the edge of the red box and around 600 meters away from dead center.

What are your plans there? Personally, I wouldn't worry about Orlando at this time. I'd wear bug spray if walking around mainland Miami, but wouldn't cancel any trips there either.

I wonder how soon they will start advising to avoid the entire Miami. It does not seem they have a good plan on how to deal with these mosquitoes.

The halachic aspects and implications of Zika are very interesting.

Is one permitted to travel? For business? For pleasure? May use birth control be used if one travelled? What types...
Abortion?
Etc

Dunno, typically others in Lakewood follow him.

This doctor clearly refers to all of Florida, I'm wondering if he's just a quack doctor or someone that knows what he's talking about. It's very easy to be machmer, the CDC's warning is only in Wynwood, south of Miami.

I don't necessarily think that was intentional

Do you think they meant to include Pensacola?

Why not?

He could of advised against Miami or South Miami.

He said Florida.

A respectable Doc should be careful with his words, it makes a difference.

UK health agency also advised against Florida travel.

He is by far the most popular pediatrician in Lakewood and has been for decades. Definitely no quack and his word carries lots of weight around here.

Can someone please ask him if he really means all of Florida, and if not ask him to correct it

I don't want to make light of a serious situation but I don't think you can make diyukim from such a sign. For frum people, Miami is "Flahrida." You think they mean Tallahassee?

It's al derech "upstate New York" referring to Monsey. And what would Ithaca be considered? Up-upsate? "I don't know. What's Ithaca?"

When they say "Florida," they only mean "the Jewish part." Kach nireh laniyas daati.
