At what percentage does it start not being worth it? And don't say "anything above zero" if you leave your house in the morning. Give me a real number.
Its up to you. Me personally I'm not risking it at all with a pregnant wife. Are you that desperate to go to Miami? We all know that there is some shady stuff going on with zika in Miami and even if it is "really" cleared it is likely to come back. So again unless you really really need to be in Miami if you are pregnant I would stay away

Also most doctors who are asked by pregnant woman whether or not they should go to Miami are told not to.

Can you just give me a number? Is a 0.000001% too risky?

Yes for this situation when you are dealing with a childs life, that is too risky for me as long as there is any chance I wouldn't do it.

Why is "anything above zero" not a reasonable answer? There are risks in living life, true. But there are many places to vacation, no reason to put a baby at risk of a major disability in order to vacation in one specific place
Don't ask stupid questions and you won't get stupid answers

I'd bet it is more likely to die in the drive to the airport or on the plane ride over then to get Zika in Miami right now.

So while better safe than sorry some common sense can go a long way. Of course there is no need to go to Miami on vacation just know that going on any vacation carries more risk to the fetus vs staying home than getting zika in Miami right now.

IMHO ;)

CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/zika/intheus/florida-update.html
-Although the specific level of risk in yellow areas is unknown, there is still a risk to pregnant women. Additionally, areas adjacent or close to red areas may have a greater likelihood of local Zika virus transmission and are considered to pose a risk to pregnant women. Miami-Dade County is designated as a cautionary yellow area.
-Pregnant women should consider postponing travel to all parts of Miami-Dade County.
-Pregnant women who lived in, traveled to, or had sex without a condom with someone who lived in or traveled to Miami-Dade County after August 1, 2016, should be tested for Zika virus.
-Women who traveled (limited travel) to Miami-Dade County or had sex without a condom with a person who lives in or traveled to Miami-Dade County may consider waiting at least 8 weeks after symptoms started or last possible exposure before trying to get pregnant. Although the level of risk in yellow areas is unknown, pregnant women are still at risk.
-Men who traveled (limited travel) to Miami-Dade County or had sex without a condom with a person who lives in or traveled to Miami-Dade County may consider waiting at least 6 months after symptoms started or last possible exposure before trying to get their partner pregnant.
-Pregnant couples and couples trying to get pregnant who live in or travel to Miami-Dade County should be aware of active Zika virus transmission and should strictly follow steps to prevent mosquito bites.
-Women and men who live in or traveled to Miami-Dade County should be aware of active Zika virus transmission, and those who are pregnant or who have a pregnant sex partner should use condoms during sex or not have sex during the pregnancy.

Been 3 months since the last case and it's just further into winter.

I still stand by my statement.

80% are asymptomatic. But I guess you know better than the CDC.

basic math. 80% of 0 cases = 0 cases.

Quick. Tell the CDC they clearly don't understand basic math!

I know its not nice to mix in to family fights, ;D But i wanna give my two cents. for the CDC its very easy to keep the warning on because why not. But if you make basic calculations then you see the percent of getting zika and being affected by it is miniscule

A quick google found this:

I would like to go to the Bahamas with my wife in February. She is not currently pregnant. Is it not smart to go? The CDC states it's a level 2 which means proceed with caution.  Does that mean go no problem?

it's not just the issue of the .001% chance of getting zika virus to determine whether it's worth it or not.

It's also the next 9 months of having trouble falling asleep, wondering overall, plus asking yourself "I wonder if I got a mosquito bite last January?"

That's the part that's not worth it - not just the visit.

ask your wives doctor. But if you plan on becoming pregnant within the next 6 months than I would definitely avoid it.
