How is there still no vaccine for this?

My department had multiple NIH funded studies on Zika and its effect on hearing, microcephaly etc but they all lost funding and interest after the tourism industry kicked it out of Florida.

Call me cynical, but if there's something to get the pace of vaccine research to pick up, it's the first world having a serious outbreak.
