Not new, I found that I could get better deals elsewhere (miles are at the expense of rebates etc..)

I don't think this belongs here but in answer to your q. (And mine I guess) probably the cheapest way of doing it is by porting a number from a different carrier (whether its a contract line or a prepaid line etc.) and when you get a smartphone they give you $125 off your statement (so the evo would be 75 bucks instead of 199 etc.)
