Nope, I assume that they sell mediocre schorah at inflated prices. I guess I should start there...

I have purchased at least three mattresses from Friedman's and have been very happy (granted not what you are looking for, but FYI IME).  I bought a bunk bed online last Pesach, with a similar idea of what you are looking for.  Very solid wood...has regular steps (maybe called missionary) with drawers on the side.  Under the bottom bunk we have a trundel (so it is really three beds), but there was a drawer option as well.

Again, it was (IMO) very good quality...IIRC around $750 (including shipping - street delivery).  IIRC it was on sale.

Bought one on amazon 3 years ago, about $500, I am very happy with it, it gets  A LOT of abuse, and stands up well.
