Being that the text directs you to call a phone number, that gets answered by a human, with a voicemail-box that is full and cannot accept any new messages... I think they were indeed not prepared for such a response. Just my thoughts.

Although the T&C state you must sign up to double dip with United, you don't seem to have to. However, this may be a problem if you are going for Gold VIP.

The lead-in page said something about needing to use United as your "double-dip", but I can't seem to find it. Considering it works without using United as the "double dip" and all it says on the page is, "Simply choose United as your preferred Hilton HHonors Double Dip® earnings partner and book your next stay today." it may not really be a "must".

Visa Signature card holders can get a Hilton Honors Gold Membership for free. The Gold status will be good through August 31. But if you stay three or more times before August 31 then the status will be extended to March 2013. Or if you are already a gold or diamond member you will instead receive 5,000 Hilton points.

It says that u need to make reservation in order to get gold. Is there any way to get it without actually making a reservation?

Last I checked, Hyatt was only giving the 60-day Diamond Trial for status match.
