Any chance Hilton would give me a higher category room for the standard price if I'm a diamond member ?
The standard rooms are all sold out, and don't want to spend the extra 25k for the suite

Sucks. Was in middle of booking the standard room, and computer was giving me errors. Then when I started again, the option was dead.

Try calling hotel, sometimes they can release room inventory so it will become available on points. Speak to a manager/ supervisor.

Found a nice manager at the hotel that made it work together with the diamond help desk.

Not sure how that helps you, unless your looking to go to that specific hotel.
And they only did it for me bec. all base rooms were fully booked.

Anyone know if its possible to merge a weekday paid stay together with a free weekend night that was bought from someone else who just adds my name to the booking? Or does the person with the voucher have to be the same person as the one that is on the weekday stay?

The person who has the voucher can always call and put the reservation in someone else's name.

they do not
let me clarify for all those technical people: they do not allow free transfers. As with anybody else you can transfer to them with a fee but the fee is way too high and doesn't make sense to pay.

That's one of my pet peeves with Hilton. Other than sign up bonuses, it doesn't make sense (unless there's something I don't know), for both spouses to keep the cards.

It might be worth it for the annual free night from Citi but it's probably just better for spouses to trade off getting a new one every two years.  As I see it, the crazy value with Hilton is IF you actually have to travel or spend money with hotels for work because if you can redeem around $.01pp like at the WA Jerusalem, you will earn back between 30-40% in points on every dollar you spend.  You have to redeem wisely for HHonors to make sense but they blow everyone out of the water on how generous their earning structure is.
